Security Guard Training in Louisiana

The Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners requires that each applicant for unarmed security guard position must be licensed through a contract security of the preferred hiring company. Certain requirements must be met along with completion of training courses. This license is valid only as long as the employed agent works under the same company and it is not transferable. If ever the licensed security guard wishes to work under a new agency, he or she must re-apply for a license; however there will be no need to complete training.

 

Here are the basic qualifications for unarmed security guards in the state of Louisiana: 

• All applicants must be 18 years old or older. 
• He or she must possess a high school diploma, or a GED equivalent diploma. 
• He or she must go through a criminal background check under the supervision of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. 
• The applicant must be legally allowed to work in the United States as a citizen or as a resident alien with a valid working permit. 
• No felony convictions, acts of crime, or certain illegalities should be associated with the applicant. 
• The applicant must possess a driver’s license.

 

Upon application, some employers will require further background check. Any found records of misdemeanors and acts of rime can be grounds for disqualification and denial of application. Every applicant should also conform to the rules and requirements of the Louisiana Board of Private Security Examiners. Violation, false statements and criminal behavior will result in termination of the acquired license.  License issued will be valid for two years. Yearly refresher courses should be taken to keep the license updated. It should also be renewed a month prior to the expiration date.
