This question is meant to show if you’re a team player or not.

Possible Answer 1:

I had a co-worker who used to come into work frequently wasted. He was going through a bad divorce and so everyone cut him some slack.

Initially I didn’t have to work closely with him, but then we were assigned to the same project.

When he showed up drunk and could hardly function, I had to take care of his work too, along with my own. I counseled him at first, and then cautioned him once.

When he came to a meeting with the clients, barely coherent, I decided enough was enough and took the matter to the senior management. They forced him to seek help and soon he was back to his old self.

Possible Answer 2:

I was part of a brainstorming session to come up with new safety strategies.

I came up with an idea, which was stolen by another one in the team, who then presented it to the management as their idea in the next meeting, when I was travelling.

When the idea came up for discussion, he was unable to justify the merits of the idea.

I saw this as an opportunity to politely laid out the justification for the idea, with further plans and strategies.

It became obvious to everyone where idea came from. This approach prevented a scene, while helping me get credit for my work.
